Rev. John Davis accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of twelve at the New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. He was baptized under J. R. Robinson. He has been a member of New Mount Zion about fifty years.


In 1962, he answered his calling to evangelicalism under L. E. A. Jones. In 1962, he was appointed as an associate to Rev. L. E. A. Jones. During this period of time Rev. Davis was commuting from    Kansas City Missouri to Topeka every Sunday.

 

In 1983, Rev. L. E. A Jones went home to be with the Lord. In 1983, Rev. Davis was called to Westminster Baptist Church to assist Pastor Russell Teague till 2009.

 

Rev. Davis received his license for ministry while at New Mount Zion. Rev. Davis attended the Evangelical Bible Seminary. He received his certificate in March 1976. In April of 1970, he received his certificate of ordination for the Gospel Ministry at the Westminster  Baptist Church. While assisting Pastor C. C. Wheeler III, Rev. Davis attended the Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

 

In 1983, Rev. Davis married his present wife, Naoma Everett Davis. She has been a blessing to his ministry and his number one supporter.

 

Rev. Davis retired from the Ford Motor company in January 1, 1995. Sister Davis retired April 1994 from the Greater Kansas City Mental Health Foundation as a Substance Abuse Counselor/Coordinator. She worked in a Residential treatment program called NARA (Narcotic Addiction Rehabilitation Act.) October 2009 the Lord led them back to Topeka which is home for both of them.

 

Rev. Davis has been on the battlefield for the Lord for over 50 years “And I’m not tired yet.”

 

He is currently one of the Associate Ministers here at New Mount Zion.
